It all starts with a water analysis
Your water may look and taste good, but that’s not all!
It is important to have it analyzed to better understand the water you use, and more importantly, the water you drink.
Since the composition of your water can vary over time and according to certain events, it is also important to repeat the analysis at different key moments:
Don’t you want to manage this? We are here. We have agreements with accredited laboratories. Normally, depending on the analyses requested, you will receive your results by e-mail within 7 to 15 working days.
Water analysis after the installation of a new well
It is important to have your water tested at least once when you have a new well or water catchment installed. Also consider having an analysis done if you don’t know the composition of your water.
After a new well is installed, the water can change a lot. We suggest that you wait 2 to 3 months after the installation of your well before having it analyzed. In the meantime, you can still use your water, but find an alternative for the water you use.
When you have this initial analysis of your water done, ask the lab to check all of the following parameters:
- Fecal coliforms including E. coli
- Fecal enterococci
- Total coliforms
- Atypical colonies
- Alkalinity
- Chlorides
- Conductivity
- The true color
- Total hardness
- Either the calcium and magnesium content of the water
- The iron
- Manganese
- The pH
- Sulfur
- Tannins and lignins
- Turbidity
- Ultraviolet: UV absorbance and transmission
- Arsenic
- Barium
- Copper
- Fluorides
- Sodium
- Sulphates
- Nitrates-nitrites
Expect to pay a few hundred dollars for a complete analysis.
The list is long, but…
Testing is the only way to know the water you drink!
It is necessary…
It is essential for us to know these parameters in order to advise you on water treatment. In fact, it is by dealing with the different results that we can design customized water treatment systems.

Annual water analysis
The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change recommends that you have your water tested twice a year.
Now, we know that it is difficult to schedule this twice a year. We’ll give you a tip: you could start by doing it at least once, in the spring or fall. This way, you ensure that you are drinking water that is good for your health!
When you have this annual water test done, ask the lab to check the microbiological parameters, which are:
- Fecal coliforms including E. coli
- Fecal enterococci
- Total coliforms
- Atypical colonies
If a previous analysis revealed the presence of nitrates-nitrites in your water or the presence of another metal or mineral in excessive quantities, ask the laboratory to check them too!
Expect to pay about $100 for a basic microbiology test and an additional fee for any additional tests requested.
